Hello! I am a proud Hispanic Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in the social service field and 3 years practicing therapy. I’m also certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and I’m passionate about providing support that is compassionate, practical, and culturally grounded. Mental health is essential for everyone, and I believe it holds a special importance within the Hispanic community where stigma can sometimes make seeking help difficult. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where healing and growth are possible for all.
In a few weeks, you could be unstuck from what’s holding you back. Let’s get started. If you’ve never been in therapy, I’ll make this easy. If you're coming back, I’ll honor what you already know. We’ll get to know each other and understand what you'd like to change. During our sessions, you will always be the expert in how your life works, and I’ll share with you a research-based approach to creating mental health. We'll work toward goals as a team, in a process that fits your unique background (e.g., race, ethnicity, gender, sex, sexual orientation identity, religious affiliation); respecting your values is important to me. I use treatments that we know work. These therapies not only help you overcome problems you’re experiencing right now, but I’ll teach you skills to resolve future problem that might come your way, too. While handling emotions in a new way might feel strange, I’ll be there to walk you through the process. I completed a Ph.D. in counseling psychology at the University of Utah, and fellowship in trauma psychology at the South Texas VA. I live in San Antonio, Texas, where I am a professor at the University of Texas School of Medicine. In my free time, I love fitness and exploring small Texas towns. Araceli is trained in both Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET), evidence-based approaches that help people better understand and work with chronic conditions such as chronic (unexplained) pain, anxiety, migraines, dizziness/vertigo, IBS, tinnitus, fatigue, brain fog and other stress-related symptoms. These therapies help patients relate to symptoms in a new way—by reducing fear, strengthening the mind-body connection, processing difficult emotions, and helping the brain “unlearn” the patterns that keep symptoms stuck. Araceli’s work focuses on supporting individuals living with chronic conditions to feel safer in their bodies, more emotionally connected, and more empowered in their healing.

My ideal client is someone ready to do the work and is willing to challenge themselves as well as enjoy the benefits of the work we'll be doing together. Happiness is not an act of human will, otherwise we'd all choose to be happy. When working with me, we will discover together how we become happy if not by merely willing it to happen. Hopefully you enjoy a relaxed and open atmosphere, speaking with a therapist in a conversational style where you don't need to censor yourself or feel as though you will be coerced to say or do something you don't want to. My treatment methods have ranged from group, individual, and couples' counseling with tools ranging from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, and Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy. I like to provide care for the whole person and tailor your treatment to what works best for you. I received my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from TAMUCC, since then I have worked with many extraordinary people. I have experience with addiction, behavioral modification, resolving issues with anxiety and depression, and anger management.

My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and rooted in evidence-based strategies that foster resilience, growth, and lasting change. Whether you’re navigating the pressures of high performance, overcoming challenges, or striving for personal and professional excellence, I am here to support you. I believe in a holistic, personalized approach to care—one that honors your unique experiences and strengths. If you’re seeking guidance in managing mental health, optimizing performance, or finding balance amid life’s transitions, we can work together to help you thrive.
My clients would describe me as easy to talk to, a great listener, honest, and informed. I find great value in creating a foundation of trust and comfortability so my clients can work to meet their therapeutic goals. Counseling is most effective when the client feels accepted and believes the therapist genuinely cares about the topics discussed during session. I specialize in treating young adults, adults, couples, and families. I have over 8 years of experience treating those struggling with depression, trauma-related disorders, anxiety related disorders, mood disorders, relationship issues, self-esteem, suicide/self-harm, and systematic family conflict to include parenting issues.
At the heart of my practice lies a commitment to person-centered care. I am guided by evidence-based practices, ensuring that our journey is grounded in approaches backed by research and proven effectiveness. Your path towards mental wellness is unique, and it deserves a tailored approach that resonates with your individual needs and experiences. While therapy modalities play a crucial role in addressing underlying issues and fostering resilience, I also understand that for some, medication can be an essential tool in managing symptoms and restoring balance. Specializing in depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma and PTSD, grief, coping skills, and eating disorder, I tailor treatment plans that integrate therapy and medication management, ensuring a holistic approach to mental well-being. Together, we navigate the complexities of the mind, empowering you to cultivate inner strength and resilience on your path towards healing.

I'm a licensed therapist who works with first-generation college students, children of immigrants, and culturally diverse young adults navigating the ups and downs of college life and early adulthood. As an immigrant myself, I truly get it—the push and pull between cultures, carrying your family's dreams on your shoulders, feeling proud of your background while also wanting to find your own way, and all the complicated feelings that come with it. Whether you're dealing with family expectations, figuring out your identity, managing academic stress, or just trying to adjust to everything that college throws at you, I bring both personal understanding and professional experience to our conversations. This is a warm, judgment-free space where you can talk about what's really going on, recognize the strengths you already have, and learn practical ways to handle whatever challenges come up.
Everyone tells you that college is the best time in your life and to enjoy it because it flies by. But what people don’t tell you is all the challenges that it can bring. Maybe it’s the first time you are away from your family and friends from home. It can also bring many challenges with pressure to drink or use drugs, navigating friendships and dating in a more complicated way, and figuring out what you want to do with the rest of your life. You might be in a position where in order to afford school you need to work on top of doing well in all your classes. I know personally how challenging, yet exciting, this time can be, and I am here to tell you that you don’t need to figure it all out on your own or even right now. Are you ready to enjoy your college experience, be fully present in the great moments without feeling stresses weighing you down everyday? It’s time to feel a sense of relief, confidence in who you are, and in your decisions. Together, we can make your life feel lighter and free up space for everything else you have going on! My Approach: I am a strong believer in the power of relationships. Having someone to talk to can increase our sense of happiness and positivity, and most importantly let us know that we are not alone. Life has many ups and downs, but it's what you do with them that matters. I am here to help you transform the tough moments into growth. Therapy with me looks like an open dialogue, where we both respect each other's point of view and collaborate to find solutions that help you overcome what’s been holding you back. We can talk about anything, no matter how hard it is to share. Whether it’s the good things or the bad, I am ready to hold space for even the strongest emotions that come up, because I know we can work through it together. I believe in a holistic approach to therapy that not only looks at your thoughts and feelings, but also how your environment, your cultural experiences, close relationships, and health, affect your mental wellbeing. We’ll use a variety of therapeutic techniques to best fit what you need, because therapy is not a one size fits all approach. We’ll make sure that those techniques are really working for you. It might be practicing mindfulness or trying out different coping skills to help things feel less overwhelming. Our approach will continue to grow as our therapeutic relationship develops. I know that therapy is not always easy, but I am here to support you each step of the way and I will always accept you for how you are in that moment, even the hard ones. A Little About Me: I went into undergrad undecided and had a hard time knowing what I wanted to do. I knew that I wanted to do something to help people and I wanted a career that I would enjoy. I always felt behind in some way because I didn’t know what I wanted to do right away. I have learned that a lot of people have a unique path to get to where they are. I worked as a school social worker for 8 years before private practice and that is when I really knew I loved counseling and wanted to continue on this path. I have lived in the Chicago area for most of my life and love the city! You can find me by the lake or exploring all the city has to offer. My hobbies are all over the place and include a mixture of baking, triathlons, knitting, going on long walks and finding the best matcha. I also love traveling (but hate flying) and have an ever growing list of places I want to visit.
Welcome! I am so happy you're here. You may be looking for emotional support, tools to help you navigate relationships, or want to learn of ways to better manage stress or past pain. I provide a non-judgmental, supportive space where you can unpack what's weighing on you, build the confidence and peace you're craving and gain a renewed and balanced sense of purpose and meaning. You can expect me to show up as a real, down to earth person who listens with compassion and meets you where you are. Together, we'll explore the patterns and experiences that keep you feeling stuck and begin to create real, lasting change. My approach combines genuine empathy with practical, evidence-based strategies to help you manage emotions, strengthen boundaries, and reconnect with your sense of self. Let's get you moving towards a life you deserve. If you're ready to start feeling lighter, more grounded, and more in control of your life, I'd be honored to help.
Hello, my name is Kristen Cooper MacDiarmid. I am a licensed professional counselor that works with children, adolescents, and adults. I specialize in anxiety and mood disorders, but I also have extensive experience with school and behavioral issues. In this time of turmoil and change, it is more important than ever to take care of our mental health while maintaining our physical health and well being; therefore, I am now offering telehealth appointments for both play and talk therapy. Whether through play therapy as a child or talk therapy as an adult, I can help you find techniques that will work for you to help you manage the daily stressors of life, make radical life changes, or to work through trauma. I can work with you to find ways to reframe your thinking and provide noticeable change and help facilitate peace in your life.
