I work with students who struggle with managing their emotional, behavioral, and social needs. I know that therapy can be initially uncomfortable and/or anxiety provoking, yet I create a safe and supportive space for my patients. The therapeutic relationship is extremely important in my practice, as I believe that we need to work together in order to meet your goals and improve your overall quality of life. I will always bring honesty and compassion into our sessions. I utilize various approaches and interventions to target each individual's needs and to create the best treatment for you. I utilize techniques from CBT, ACT, and mindfulness practices. However, I tailor my practice and choose interventions that best suit your symptoms. I have extensive experience working with anxiety, relationship difficulties, and depression. I am offering and accepting referrals for ADHD neuropsychological testing as well. Feel free to reach out to me directly by phone or email to see if we would be a good fit. I offer in person and virtual sessions. My goal is to teach you skills and offer a different perspective to lead a fulfilling life. Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions; I look forward to working together!

Welcome! I'm Joanna. I work with adolescents (16+) & adults, most frequently young adults. I particularly enjoy working with transitional issues - changes in school, jobs, family, relationships, identity, etc. Often, my clients are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, and/or interpersonal conflict. I value working with folks with a range of backgrounds, races, faiths, genders, sexualities, and lifestyles. My work sees people through a systems lens, recognizes the oppressive barriers to mental wellness, and encourages reflection on cultural impact. My ideal client is open minded, patient, and motivated for change. I value flexibility in the therapeutic relationship and use a person-centered approach, whether that's structured skill building or an empathetic ear. I work mostly from an ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) framework, but also incorporate elements of CBT, DBT, and interpersonal therapy. I am not a true "blank slate" - healing comes from connections! I'm glad to have you here - it shows you've taken a huge first step towards healing, processing, and growth, and I'm honored to support you. Shoot me a message to get connected (note: telehealth only)! The extras: I am a cancer sun ISFJ, and I enjoy making pottery, reading fiction, going for walks/hikes, and watching reality TV with my dog.

Students who come to work with me often share some things in common: -They're high-achievers. Driven, capable, and holding it together on the outside, but quietly exhausted, burned out, or feeling like something's missing on the inside. -They might be navigating anxiety or OCD, going through a major life transition, or questioning their purpose and what comes next. They may be working through shifts in their relationships, with a partner, with their parents, or with themselves. -Many have never asked for help before. They're used to being the one who has it together, and reaching out takes real courage for them. If any of that sounds familiar, reach out for a free 20-minute consultation and let's get started together :)

Are you in search of a therapist who understands the unique experiences of trans and queer individuals? Are you navigating how to address trauma, cope with late-stage capitalism, handle ADHD and autistic burnout, or explore gender and sexuality? I am committed to serving individuals within my community, particularly those who identify as trans and queer. I approach my practice as kink-aware, anti-capitalist, pro-sex worker, and knowledgeable about non-monogamous relationships. Because you know you best, we will collaborate to explore your intentions, identify therapeutic goals, and establish an individualized plan. I am IFS informed and utilize art therapy to deepen self-understanding and promote healing with clients. My aim during our sessions is to create a safe, inclusive space where you can freely express yourself. I highly value and respect your identities, understanding their significant impact on your lived experiences and our work together. 🎓 You Don’t Have to Figure It All Out Alone College can be exciting—but also overwhelming, confusing, and sometimes lonely. If you’re feeling anxious, burned out, unsure of who you are, or just stuck, you’re not the only one—and you don’t have to go it alone. 💬 What We Talk About Students I work with often share: Academic and social anxiety Burnout and perfectionism Identity questions around gender, culture, or sexuality Family and relationship struggles That lingering “What’s wrong with me?” feeling 🌱 What to Expect I keep things warm, open, and straightforward—no psychobabble. We’ll move at your pace, and talk about what matters most to you. This space is about feeling heard, not judged. ✨ Why You Might Feel at Home Here You don’t need to be in crisis to start therapy. If you’re thoughtful, curious, or just tired of keeping it all in—this could be the support you’ve been looking for.

Hi! I'm from Pittsburgh and proud to be practicing in my home town. Therapy ranges from directive to less structured approaches. Directive approaches involve identifying a specific problem and starting interventions including skill building for the client. Less directive therapy involves self exploration and understanding our symptoms in an interpersonal context. These two approaches can be combined, tailored to the client. The client's responsibility is committing to therapy, and showing up weekly at the designated time, and engaging in the process. While the therapist is an expert in psychology, the client is an expect in themselves and is ultimately the source of change and improvement. I see myself as a guide, helping the client see things they may have missed or avoided, and making connections that wouldn't otherwise be obvious. The process is collaborative and frequently rewarding.

Eating disorders rarely develop in isolation. Often, they begin as brilliant adaptations; ways of coping with overwhelming emotions, painful relationships, unmet attachment needs, or experiences that have felt difficult to carry alone. While these patterns may have once helped you survive, they can eventually leave you feeling disconnected from yourself, your body, and your relationships. Healing begins with understanding your story before trying to change it and honoring the ways you've learned to survive while creating space for new experiences of safety, connection, and self-compassion. My approach is person-centered, relational, and attachment-focused. I am an Inclusive Eating Disorder Specialist (IEDS) and am fully trained in EMDR. I integrate EMDR, ACT, DBT, RO-DBT, parts work, and psychodynamic therapy into my work with clients. My practice is anti-diet and grounded in Health at Every Size (HAES). I believe healing happens in relationship. The therapeutic relationship can become a place where new experiences of safety, trust, and connection begin to take root. Whether you're struggling with restriction, binge eating, purging, body image distress, or the lasting impact of trauma, you don’t have to navigate recovery alone.

I offer client-centered treatment options that are determined collaboratively between us. I value all people and work to be culturally sensitive and aim for cultural humility when working with someone whose identity is different from my own. I will always seek out information on my own to fill in gaps of general knowledge, but will look to you to share your own personal experiences and beliefs that may or may not follow the general norms of any given cultural identity. My clients often struggle with depression and anxiety which have systemic and/or family-based roots, and my job is to facilitate a process to help you develop self-understanding and self-knowledge to make choices that are right for you.
