Hello! It is my pleasure to make your acquaintance! My name is Anna and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a native Oregonian, an Oregon State University graduate (go Beavs!), and received a master's degree in Social Work from Portland State University in 2019. I am a mom to one dog, four cats, and two human teenagers, and when it's not raining, you can find me out in the garden, eating chocolate, or listening to 90's music. I serve youth aged 10 through older adulthood and believe it is never too late to try something new. Conditions I treat most often include anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, anger, grief, and navigating becoming your most authentic self. I am an affirming, accepting, LGBTQIA+ ally and clinician.

I utilize a person-centered, narrative approach to therapy which means we will focus on helping you explore your remarkable life experiences while building trust through a collaborative dialogue. My approach has been described as warm, validating and filled with curiosity. Throughout our work together, my goal is to foster a non-judgmental space to help you work towards relief and self-understanding. Some clients work with me to explore childhood experiences while others want to focus on more recent challenges. I support people with a wide variety of concerns and am particularly passionate about supporting individuals who are navigating relationship challenges (familial, romantic, platonic), exploring their sexual or gender identities, and traversing stressors related to parenting, school, work, or other obstacles. I am also trained to provide treatment for OCD and ADHD. I strive to work from an antiracist, LGBTQA+ affirming, and Health At Every Size-informed perspective. If it sounds like we would be a good fit, please contact me to set up a free 20-minute consultation.

College and young adulthood can be an exciting but stressful time. People may see you as focused and driven, but inside you feel more scattered and anxious than they realize. Perfectionism and an internal critic run your schedule. School, work, relationships, finding time for yourself—you feel like it's all too much, but you also worry you're not doing enough. You often say "Yes" when you want to say, "No, I can't handle one more thing!" Trying to manage ADHD, trauma, or just your day-to-day mood on top of everything feels extra exhausting. You wish you could feel balanced, confident, more at ease... maybe even kinder to yourself. I can help you navigate the "typical" aspects of young adulthood that are actually more challenging than they look. We'll focus on what's most important to you, whether that's exploring internal dynamics or learning new skills to cope with the daily tough stuff. My therapy style is interactive, collaborative, and inclusive—both tears and laughter are always welcome. I know starting therapy can feel tough, but finding a great therapist shouldn't be. To that end, I'm happy to offer you a free consultation to answer your questions, connect a bit, and see if I'm a good fit for your therapy needs. Please reach out to schedule a call!

Currently accepting new clients. I offer an affirming space for individuals and couples to explore identity, relationships, and emotional challenges. I'm trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and certified in EMDR, integrating both to support healing from trauma, deepen self-understanding, and foster authentic connections. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating multigenerational trauma, anxiety, identity development, and life transitions. I especially enjoy supporting people as they unlearn old patterns, build healthier relationships, and create lives that feel more aligned and fulfilling. My approach is centered on helping you express yourself openly and without judgment. Whether you're processing trauma, exploring your identity, or seeking healthier relationships, I offer a collaborative, trauma-informed, and LGBTQIA+ affirming space to move toward self-acceptance, resilience, and meaningful change. Also, when you lose a loved one, you may feel estranged and angry for a long period, and traumatized too. Finding a safe space to heal and learn new coping strategies can make a difference. Working with me you will learn new tools to navigate into safe emotional shores. I have worked for 16 years treating anxious and depressed mood, trauma, the integration of contents of dreams and nightmares, somatic and relationship issues, themes of personal growth. My approach is psychodynamic and integrative, promoting a body-mind-spirit connection. I do trauma-informed, attachment, body focused, and cognitive behavioral interventions. Developmental trauma (experiences as we grow, including our family of origin) shapes how we see the world, sometimes unsafe and challenging to navigate. Our attachments are the foundations in which we trust or find conflict. Developmental trauma may manifest in the body as anxiety, stress, distress, relationship difficulties, depression and more. There is healing to be found here, to be understood and nourished. Well done on the first step in a journey toward wellness. The most important aspect of therapy is finding a person who makes you feel safe and heard. I look forward to collaborating. I have training and experience in working with trauma, family of origin/generational cycles, attachment disruptions, complicated grief and loss, sexuality, sex work and with LGBTQAI+ persons. I love working through emotions, trauma and somatic experiencing. I am Level I Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy trained. I enjoy working with and understanding folx from their perspective; I work with singles, couples, non-monogamous consensual relationships and families. I provide a safe, unassuming space in which you can find felt safety. I appreciate the eclectic person you are and would like to help you identify your own cracks, so that you can let your own light in. Starting the therapy process is a sign of strength and vulnerability. I believe that we all have the power to create change in our lives by allowing ourselves to see ourselves and be seen by others in our lives. Together, we will explore the origins of your patterns of thinking/behaving/relating as well as the functions that these patterns serve, assess your barriers to change, identify your strengths and resources, and practice new ways of coping in order to help you live a more satisfying life.

Vancouver, WA

My name is Kaci Schmitt (she/her). I am happy and honored to be able to offer counseling and therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults in Portland, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington, as well as throughout the states of Oregon and Washington for teletherapy. I truly enjoy working with clients who are looking to process various experiences, transitions, and challenges in their lives, as well as gain knowledge, trust, and compassion for themselves and deepen their capacity for mental and emotional wellness. There are times in life where we can use an empathic, nonjudgmental therapist who can be present with us as we explore our challenges and develop insight. In addition to deeply listening to you, I will hold space for your stories, history, and cultural experiences, as well as encourage you to hold compassion and curiosity for your unique challenges. I specialize in working with teens and adults with anxiety, trauma, and grief and loss. Many of the clients I work with are highly sensitive persons (HSPs) and looking for ways to cultivate wellness in their lives. I also frequently work with people in the helping fields who are experiencing burnout and exhaustion, who are ready to explore ways to process vicarious and secondary trauma and prioritize true self-care. I truly love the work I do. I began my practice because I believe that we all have the capacity to grow, heal, and transform, and that we all have insight that we can develop and learn to trust. I also believe that working through our challenges with self-compassion and understanding can help us move from pain and frustration to peace and autonomy. We are all capable of creating meaningful lives of peace. I deeply believe that we all have an innate capacity to heal and that each person is their own best resource and source of wisdom, and that we often need a little help allowing ourselves to access and trust our intuition. We all have many possible selves, and the stories we tell ourselves about who we are, who others are, and how life works can help or hurt our chances at being the self we want to be. I also believe that there must be space in therapy to process the things about life that are hard, painful, exhausting, and often heartbreaking, all while cultivating a gentler, more compassionate, resilient way of being in this world. Therapy allows us the opportunity to develop self-awareness and explore action steps that we can take to improve our wellbeing. I respect the process it takes to discover new things about ourselves and integrate what we have learned into our lives, and I encourage my clients to do so with great care for themselves. I consider it a privilege to be a collaborative partner in the healing and transformation process.
