Welcome! Im Shayda- Healing from trauma isn't something we're meant to do alone. When we safely reconnect with our nervous system with the support of an attuned therapist, therapy can be deeply powerful. I use trauma therapies like EMDR, Brainspotting, and Somatic Experiencing to help you process pain and find lasting relief. I work with adults healing from PTSD, C-PTSD, childhood trauma, and attachment wounds. I also support survivors of sexual assault, toxic relationships, and those facing depression, anxiety, panic, or suicidal thoughts. Through this work, we can reprocess the past and create lasting healing and wholeness in your life. As a feminist, trauma-informed therapist, I recognize how systems of oppression, inequality, and societal expectations shape our experiences and impact our well-being. I offer culturally sensitive care that honors your lived experience - creating a space where you feel truly seen, valued, and understood. My priority is building safety and trust. I take the time to get to know you, bringing presence, compassion, attunement, and authenticity to our work. Together, we can take meaningful steps toward creating the life you envision and deserve. I believe that we can appear fine on the outside while feeling exhausted or unwell on the inside. Often, the ways we learned to survive can keep us stuck in unhealthy habits, painful relationships, or missed opportunities without us even realizing it. But healing is possible. I believe we can transform past pain into something meaningful. You can still reclaim a fuller version of yourself—one that brings strength to your relationships, your family, and your sense of self. Seeking support can be the hardest step, but with the right guidance, the mind and brain have a powerful capacity to heal and be restored. I often work with clients who frequently navigate the tension between family expectations, cultural values, and the demands of living in a different society. Together, we work to challenge internalized beliefs like "I'm not good enough" and build healthier ways of relating to oneself and others. A recurring focus in my practice is supporting individuals who feel stuck in unhealthy or unfulfilling relationships, helping them move toward greater clarity, empowerment, and self-worth. I began my career as a child therapist in schools, where I witnessed firsthand how deeply childhood experiences and trauma can shape a person’s sense of identity and self-worth. That foundation continues to guide my work today. I help clients gently recognize childhood wounds, process them with care, and foster meaningful growth toward a more grounded and authentic self. My approach is both gentle and direct. I meet you where you are, moving at a pace that feels right for you. In our work together, I offer a safe, honest space where you can feel seen, heard, and supported as we begin to untangle complex emotions and reshape the stories you tell yourself. We explore how early experiences—such as family dynamics, attachment patterns, or messages you received about who you were "supposed" to be—may still be influencing how you see yourself today.
Hello and welcome. In practicing psychotherapy for over 20 years, I have placed great value in establishing meaningful and secure connections with my patients that have served in healing and being free from deeply held emotional, psychological, and relational wounds. I value the journey of exploring and understanding together so as to help patients reach and nurture a healthy and authentic sense of self; in developing a kinder relationship to and greater connectedness to ones emotional life and self worth; in developing healthier relationships to others; and ultimately securing a sense of overall satisfaction and well being, inside and out. Feeling seen, heard, understood, and known can be life-changing and transformative. Patients who come to seek treatment from me are often looking for a safe, confidential, empathic therapy relationship to share their feelings, understand themselves, to nurture emotional and psychological growth. One motivating factor for therapy is the desire for relief from symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, relational difficulties, and self-esteem related struggles that have been either life long or situational. Treatment focus is often related to on-going issues related to depression, panic/anxiety, grief/loss, insecurities related to self and others, chronic medical conditions, physical/ sexual/ relational trauma, intimacy and relationship concerns, and issues related to self esteem/ self image/ body image. The type of psychotherapy I offer is informed by a developmental, relational/ intersubjective, and contemporary psychoanalytic frame of reference. This type of work offers a broad and meaningful exploration and working through of long held emotional and relational issues, gaining insight into the underlying root causes of symptoms and concerns, and the development of a healthy sense of self and authentic emotional life. Providing a safe, empathic environment are only a few of the many essential ingredients in establishing a secure working therapeutic relationship, and something that is seen as essential and greatly valued in this process of self discovery. The process of psychotherapy can offer meaningful emotional healing, in-depth understanding, and psychological working through of all that has had an impact on your relationship to your self, your physical and emotional wellbeing, and relationship to others. Through insight and a deeply felt authentic connection to ones emotional life, there is opportunity to develop new and more conscious/adaptive ways of living, coping, and relating so as to reduce suffering, and to improve overall quality of day to day living. In certain cases, mindfulness based meditation, visualization, and relaxation techniques are offered to assist with being more accepting, conscious, present and connected to your self, your body/mind, to others, and to your life in general. With conscious mindfulness based attention, and resulting integration of the body/ mind/ feeling, there can be an experience of emotional grounding, centeredness, and general enhancement in the quality of your life.
I work with diverse students who are struggling with the impact of an overwhelming life event or transition. I specialize in sexual trauma and PTSD, but have experience working with students around relationship issues, emotion regulation, anxiety and/or depressed mood, body image concerns, self-esteem, and sexual orientation and gender identity.
Many of the students I work best with are high-achieving, thoughtful, and often harder on themselves than anyone else could be. They may look like they have it all together on the outside, but inside, they feel overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure of who they really are. Some are navigating perfectionism, burnout, or relationship stress. Others are adjusting to big life changes like leaving home, figuring out their identity, or questioning their future. If you're someone who’s used to pushing through and holding it all in, therapy can be a space to slow down, be honest, and feel more like yourself again. My goal is to help you build clarity, balance, and self-trust so you can feel grounded even when life is uncertain.

Feeling anxious, stuck, or burned out? I help college students move through anxiety, eating struggles, body image stress, and relationship ups and downs. I’ve worked with clients all over the world, using approaches that help you truly heal and create lasting change. Hi! One of my favorite populations to work with is the student population - you have to deal with SO much at this point in your life...academics, career planning, socializing, finances, friends, relationships, etc. It is a lot to handle! As a therapist, I take pride in my ability to connect with people on a deep level, while keeping things light with humor and compassion. My goal is to provide you with the tools and support you need to launch yourself into a fabulous next chapter of your life!
For nearly two decades, I have worked with people during the moments that interrupt the life they expected and ask them to reconsider who they are. I am especially drawn to working with young women and emerging adults navigating anxiety, self-worth, relationships, identity development, grief, and the transition into adulthood. These years often carry an unusual amount of pressure: to choose the right future, become financially independent, maintain relationships, look confident, and appear certain while privately having very little room to be unsure. Many of my clients are capable, thoughtful, and highly motivated. They may perform well academically or professionally, remain dependable within their families, and appear composed to the people around them. Beneath that competence, however, there may be relentless self-criticism, perfectionism, relationship anxiety, difficulty making decisions, or the feeling that everyone else received instructions for adulthood that they somehow missed. Therapy creates an opportunity to understand the structure beneath that distress. We may explore when achievement became connected to worth, why disappointing someone feels more dangerous than disappointing yourself, or how belonging became dependent upon being attractive, agreeable, useful, or easy to love. We look at the expectations you inherited, the identities you have performed, and the strategies that helped you remain safe or accepted but now make it difficult to know what you actually want. My style is warm, direct, and actively engaged. I am not a therapist who remains silent while you carry the entire conversation, nor will I offer reassurance that sounds comforting but leaves the underlying problem untouched. I listen carefully, ask intentional questions, identify patterns, and offer perspective or challenge when it can help the work become more honest. Difficult conversations are approached with care, but they are not avoided. Our work holds both depth and practical application. We will address what is happening now while also examining the experiences, relationships, and beliefs that continue to shape it. Insight can help you understand why a pattern exists, while practical tools help you respond differently when that pattern appears in daily life. Both matter. Understanding without action can leave someone informed but unchanged, while skills without deeper understanding may only improve the surface. You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what is wrong or what therapy should look like. You may begin with anxiety that will not settle, a relationship that has altered your trust in yourself, a transition that has left you without a familiar identity, or the sense that the life you are building does not fully belong to you. We begin with what is present and allow the work to become more precise over time. The goal is not to turn you into someone more impressive, productive, or acceptable. It is to help you separate who you are from who you learned to become in order to feel safe, successful, loved, or included. From there, you can make decisions with greater clarity, build relationships without repeatedly abandoning yourself, and create a life that feels genuinely authored rather than merely performed.
I center my work on supporting LGBTQIA+ students navigating identity concerns related to gender and race. Using DBT, ERP, and solution-focused approaches, I also help with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and life transitions. I understand how substance use, relationship challenges, and emotion-regulation struggles can intersect with marginalized identities and amplify feelings of not belonging. My goal is to offer a warm, affirming space where you can bring your full self, build insight, and move toward meaningful change. At Inclusive Insight Psychotherapy, we believe connection is where we heal. My pronouns are he/they.
Licensed in CA, NC, FL and PA—offering seamless virtual care for students on campus and those traveling home for breaks. I am a Licensed Psychologist. I attended U of Miami, FL for my B.S, M.S., and Ph.D. As part of my graduate program, I completed courses and did research at Duke, U of Penn, Jefferson University, and Rutgers. I completed a specialized post-graduate Harvard program to understand and overcome internal barriers to achieve personal growth. Later in life, I became a UCLA Alum by obtaining my Certificate in Human Resource Management and was selected as the valedictorian for my speciality. This added a capability to enhance my work as a Strategic Human Resource Executive for two large Aerospace companies based in Torrance, CA. I live in beautiful Napa, CA. My practice is virtual using a secured platform. I see adults 18+ yo for individual therapy. For the past 30 plus years, I helped people just like you find ways to get on track with their lives. My goal for you is to understand yourself and be able to take steps to feel the way you want to feel. During our initial sessions, I ask that you share what you feel I need to know about your situation and circumstance, your feelings, about who you are and what you hope to gain through therapy. I take time to get to know you. We will explore your thoughts, feelings, reactions that arise in therapy as these are just as important as what happens outside of therapy. You will design your own unique tools and techniques to use throughout your life in various situations that give you relief and help during difficult times. Compassionate and patient, encouraging you to overcome hurdles you can control and let go of ones you can’t. We will move you towards your best self by holding you accountable for your own growth. We work collaboratively; starting with what’s happening now, breaking things down into manageable areas to work on. We explore ways to increase your awareness and your actions from how you view things to your actual behaviors. I keep up with the latest science on evidenced based approaches, and leverage our current understanding of our whole body. You'll gain resilience to handle life’s challenges. I believe that we are creative, resourceful & whole... and sometimes, we just need a helping hand. We have genetics and learned behaviors that make us who we are. Think about it, if we can learn what we have learned to bring us to where we are today, without even trying, imagine what we can do if we put just a little bit of effort and energy into learning something different that would work better for us today. If we take care of our whole body, eat right, stay active, stimulate our brains, give to and receive from others then we do better dealing with stress and challenges. I do practice the things I talk about. It’s important that I take care of myself. And we’re not prefect so sometimes we stop our best practices and then we realize we need to pick them up again because we notice the negative impact. That’s me too. I love that we have similarities and differences as humans, that’s what makes us so wondrous! If you want to learn more about how I can help, send me a message. Please be sure to share your personal email and your personal cell phone so I can reach you.
Are you struggling with anxiety, stress, or depression? Do these overwhelming emotions seem to be holding you back from living your life to the fullest? If you've tried therapy before without getting the results you were hoping for, I'm here to offer a new path forward. I specialize in a highly effective form of therapy called TEAM-CBT, rooted in evidence-based treatment methods. My goal is to empower you to overcome anxiety, depression, tackle procrastination and improve your relationships.
Picture this: a space where your thoughts and emotions are not just heard, but truly understood; where negative patterns unravel, where there is change and growth in your life, and where therapy is enjoyable and fun. I provide a safe, judgement-free, and easy going environment where you can feel free to be yourself. In treatment, we will work together to collaboratively set goals for change, learn how your self-talk impacts your feelings and behaviors, and learn practical skills to create change. I draw on a model of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), specifically TEAM-CBT. The tools I offer are concrete, step-by-step methods that help you challenge unhelpful thoughts, shift painful emotions, improve relationships, and build new habits. Together, we’ll practice strategies you can use both in and outside of sessions, so progress continues between appointments and beyond. I also have extensive experience working with the ASD population and the families and caregivers, recognizing how important it is to support the entire system, not just the individual. My background in conducting comprehensive assessments allows me to integrate different approaches and tailor therapy to your unique needs. My personal history in athletics has shaped who I am and given me firsthand insight into the pressures athletes face. I bring that perspective into my work by applying cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) strategies that help athletes build resilience, manage stress, and improve performance. Additionally, I have experience working with transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) as well as with clients struggling with depression and anxiety. I’ve seen how these treatments, combined with the right therapeutic support, can lead to meaningful progress and long-lasting change. My goal is for you to feel more empowered with your life. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, life transition, or other concerns, I am here to support you on your new era of personal transformation. Interested in seeing if were a good match?
