Therapists for college students near 15213
I offer LGBTQIA+ affirming care for adults and young adults in New York and across over 40 states through PsyPact, with virtual therapy tailored to each client's unique needs. My practice is especially supportive of undergraduate/graduate students, healthcare professionals, and those managing anxiety/mood concerns, identity development, or academic/professional stress. I have also received advanced training in postpartum mood/anxiety disorders through Postpartum Support International, which allows me to help new parents dealing with perinatal concerns. I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and relational psychotherapy, and provide documentation for out-of-network insurance reimbursement and sliding scale rates when needed.
Are you feeling anxious, depressed, perhaps overwhelmed or having trouble managing life stressors? Has something happened to you past or present that was unexpected, scary, upsetting and often a source of distress and now you feel ready to work through it? Are you struggling with navigating changes or life transitions and could use somebody to talk to? No matter what is going on, it is generally helpful to talk with an unbiased person who can help you make sense of what’s going on and learn how to manage stress so that you can function more effectively and of course feel better! I have nearly 20 years experience working as a therapist, with the past eleven years working specifically in college counseling centers at both the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Maine. If you need support, please feel free to contact me and we can schedule a brief phone consultation to discuss what you are hoping to work on and also give you a chance to ask any questions you may have, together we can determine if we are a good fit.
At CenteredMind Online, I specialize in working with students who are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally drained, and are ready to feel more balanced and in control of their lives. Many of the clients I work with are juggling academic pressures, relationships, and personal expectations, often while hiding how stressed or stuck they feel. On the outside, they may seem high-functioning, but internally they’re quietly struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or sleep issues. If you’ve been finding it harder to focus, stay motivated, or feel rested, no matter how hard you try, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it out on your own. That’s where I come in. I provide a calm, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and understood, and your mental health is finally a priority. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, panic attacks, depression, or simply feeling unmotivated or disconnected, we’ll work together to find a clear path forward. My approach is compassionate, and focused on helping you feel more grounded, and more like yourself again. I offer both medication management and supportive therapy, tailored to your individual needs. Together, we’ll look at what’s getting in your way and build a plan to help you move forward with solutions to help you feel more balanced and centered. CenteredMind Online is a fully virtual psychiatric practice, so you can meet with me from the comfort and privacy of your own space. I offer flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, to make care more accessible. No commuting. No waiting rooms. Just real support when you need it most. I'm a little weird and sarcastic and work best with clients who are a little weird and sarcastic. I specialize in working with clients who have experienced some form of trauma - this may include religious trauma, sexual assault, harrassment, bullying, intimate partner violence, human trafficking, violent crimes, accidents, incarceration, and refugee status. I also have experience working with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, and OCD, and those dealing with life transitions, including transition to and out of college, changes in identity and changes in religion/loss of faith.
My therapeutic approach is dependent on what your needs and goals are as I believe that you are the expert on your own life. I specialize in treating anxiety, trauma, autism, ADHD, stress, and depression for around ages 5 to 29. I often utilize and I am trained in Cognitive-Behavioral therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), Solution Focused therapy, Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Supportive Family therapy, and Mindfulness-Based therapy. I also can incorporate art and sand tray techniques into sessions. I believe having a good therapeutic relationship with you is essential to starting the journey into therapy. It is also important that you feel comfortable and safe when you are with me to allow yourself to fully be you.
I do two things really well - listen and empathize. You and your story are unique. My job is to help you set goals and develop a plan to set the path for our work together. I strive to create a safe, inclusive space for open sharing and reflection. My role is not to judge or tell you what you should do. My role is to empower and support you to be your best self even if that sometimes means challenging you to promote change. I work with young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and/or general life stress. The world itself impacts how we move through it particularly for members of neurodivergent and BIPOC communities. I offer a 15 minute phone consult to see if we vibe.

Are you struggling? Is your mental health struggles getting in the way of your academic performance or social relationships? If so, I would love to help! I have over 19 years experience and 8 of those were at University Counseling Centers. I have worked both at the University of Pittsburgh and West Virginia University. Counseling can be intimidating and I believe that creating a trusting therapeutic relationship is a vital part of making it feel more comfortable. I work hard to collaborate with you- I listen to what is going on and has been getting in the way of being the best version of you. Together we will develop treatment goals to help you get back to a great place. I am passionate about working with people who are struggling with identity concerns, anxiety, depression, parenting concerns, interpersonal/relationship concerns, self-esteem, stress management, substance use concerns or trying to recover from a history of trauma. I utilize an integrative approach through a multicultural lens in my work meeting the client where they are at and learning about their goals, strengths and struggles that they want to overcome. I love to use a strength based approach that is client centered and solution focused. I am passionate about integrating physical exercise and skill building into treatment to help with sustainability of progress. Lastly, from my experience, clients who do the best in treatment are ones who do work outside of our appointments to apply and utilize the skills/resources we are discussing.
Do you feel like food, exercise, or how you look are taking up way too much space in your mind? Or like no matter what you do, it’s never “enough”? I specialize in supporting teens and young adults who are navigating eating disorders, body image struggles, and the pressure to be perfect. If you are unsure how to navigate this difficult journey or find it hard to trust your own relationship with food, now might be the time to reach out for help. We’ll focus on helping you build freedom around food and movement, while also exploring the deeper emotions and experiences that may be driving your eating disorder. I use EMDR therapy to help process painful memories and the critical beliefs that often fuel disordered eating. EMDR can be especially powerful in shifting old patterns and helping you feel more grounded, confident, and connected to yourself. I also incorporate Intuitive Eating, Health at Every Size (HAES), and All Foods Fit approaches. Whether you’re feeling stuck in recovery, overwhelmed by anxiety and perfectionism, or just ready to find a healthier relationship with yourself, I’ll meet you exactly where you are. You don’t have to go through this alone. Together, we can build a path toward healing, self-acceptance, and freedom.
College is this interesting time of transition where you are given an opportunity to explore independence away from your parents, hometown, and all that feels comfortable. But for many, this independence and freedom can be lonely, confusing and downright uncomfortable. You may feel like you are not cut out to succeed in such a high pressure environment. Decisions can seem overwhelming. Am I in the right major? What internship should I choose? Should I study abroad? Do I need to take a semester off? How do I manage my money? The pressure to perform academically can be intense and feel overwhelming. Picking a major, choosing classes, second guessing your decisions, and simply managing time and assignments can feel insurmountable. If you previously struggled with time management or organization, you may find your safety net is now far away and now your grades are suffering. I have worked with many students just like you. I work to treat a range on issues that get in the way of optimal academic performance - from depression to anxiety to ADHD. I further specialize in working with students who are also parents. Parenting young children while working towards your degree is no small feat. Pregnancy and/or postpartum during graduate school is challenging but together we can get through it.
