Therapists for college students near 15213
I work with college students and adults who are navigating stress, anxiety, academic pressures, relationships, and life transitions. I take a collaborative and supportive approach, tailoring therapy to each person’s unique needs and goals. Some clients choose to explore EMDR, and I’m trained to use it when it fits, but many find our sessions helpful through conversation, reflection, and practical coping strategies. I aim to create a space where students feel understood and empowered, whether you’re struggling with burnout, uncertainty about the future, or past experiences that continue to affect your life. I accept BCBS of Michigan and BCN and offer telehealth sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays to make therapy accessible and easy to fit into a busy schedule.
Hello! I’m Amber. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and my training is strengths-based, trauma informed, and recovery-perspective grounded. I have practiced extensively with individuals and families working to make treatment a collaborative process. I specialize in the field of eating disorders treating adolescents and adults, individuals and families. I have worked in all levels of care for over a decade, allowing me to treat an array of symptoms and co-occurring conditions. In addition to treating eating disorders, I am also passionate about working with those experiencing challenges related to anxiety, depression, pre/post-natal, life transitions, self-esteem, self-growth and goal setting. My passion being a therapist is informed by the many transitions in my life. I bring much of who I am into my work and like to establish a genuine, deep, and unconditional relationship with my clients. I believe in the power of deep connection to transform and shape our lives. My approach embodies authenticity, humor, empathy, and honesty. I am your biggest fan and I am also the person who will empower you to grow into yourself. I employ an eclectic approach to therapy, including: Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT & CBT-E) Family Based Treatment (FBT)
Do you dread the 5:00 am clang of your alarm? Do you hit snooze one too many times and now have to scramble to get to class on time, chugging caffeine, just trying to make it through the day? You spend the evenings checked out, on the couch, mindlessly scrolling your phone, while the tv drones on in the background. You know there is more to life than this. You know there is a way to get good sleep, not survive on caffeine, and actually enjoy your evenings. Sometimes we just need a little support to get there. It’s okay to need a little help figuring out what is underneath the stress and get back to living a life you don’t want to escape. Let’s talk about how you can move from dread to joy. Contact me.
Many of the students I work with are navigating a lot internally—stress, anxiety, self-doubt, or feeling unsure about their path. You might find yourself overthinking, putting pressure on yourself to have everything figured out, or struggling in relationships while trying to balance it all. You may look like you’re doing fine on the outside, but feel overwhelmed or stuck underneath. You don’t have to have everything figured out. If you’re open to growing, gaining clarity, and building a stronger relationship with yourself, we’d likely work well together.
Are you navigating your identity now that you don't live at home anymore? Are you trying to heal from a difficult upbringing and break patterns that your family created? Are you struggling to navigate how to be in a healthy relationship currently? My clients find value in working with me by learning about how to disrupt negative patterns from their childhood and discover who they are and want to be moving forward.
I see teens and adults via telehealth and am licensed in NJ, PA, FL, and VT. Specialties include Anxiety, Depression, School Issues, Food Allergy Anxiety, Parenting, Peer Relationships, and Stress.
I believe the relationship between client and therapist is what is most important in the therapeutic process. Feeling safe and comfortable is what will allow you to challenge yourself to be vulnerable. Building trust together is what makes the works we will do transformative. My 19 years of work experience thus far has prepared me in various ways to be a support to others. Most recently, I have worked directly with the college student population at a local university. My efforts with college-age students have reminded me just how difficult the transition between high school and the world, between youth and adulthood, can be. Navigating those decisions, molding a new identity, and learning about responsibility: these challenges require empathy and encouragement. My focus is a time limited therapy—understanding the root of the issues occurring and offering tools and support to ultimately make myself obsolete. I work out of an emotion focused lens, offering EMDR to manage and treat those destructive, rooted themes that arise in one’s life. I believe in the work I do. I believe change is possible because I have seen it, and I have lived it. There is nothing more exciting for me than to witness another’s curative process. Congratulations on taking this step towards joy and serenity, towards a more conscious, self-assured way of living.
You're feeling overwhelmed, and the constant worry and overthinking start to pile up. School already has enough challenges, and now life stuff and Covid is thrown in the mix. Anxiety sucks! It is paralyzing, and you feel stuck under all the pressure to make the right decisions, get all that work done, and keep it together. You may ask yourself, Why am I like this? Why can't I start that paper/project? I can't ever relax!" Maybe you find yourself a sensitive person, or you can't say no. Feelings of shame creep in, and it is a neverending cycle of feeling shut down while trying to navigate life transitions. Our clients are like you. Imagine being able to start that paper or make decisions without spiraling. Or going into a social situation with confidence. Better yet, not feeling alone in a room full of people. We understand how anxiety works and learned the skills to manage it not only for ourselves but to help others like you break the cycle of suffering. We focus on providing a safe space to be yourself as you process and learn skills to take control of your life.
When you don't feel like yourself.... And previous approaches haven’t brought the clarity or change you’ve been seeking, it might be time to explore a path that takes the full picture into account: your history, your emotions, your patterns, and your goals. At Wellbrook Wellness Therapy Group, we offer holistic, personalized therapy that addresses the root causes of disconnection, anxiety, and overwhelm, not just the symptoms. We believe real healing happens when mind, body, and emotions are all part of the conversation. If you're ready for something more meaningful, we’re here to walk with you toward clarity, ease, and a renewed sense of self. Come as you are. We’ll take it from here.
I'm a trauma therapist offering online therapy to college students throughout Pennsylvania. My specialty is IFS-informed EMDR: EMDR helps your brain reprocess painful memories so they lose their grip on the present, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) brings compassion to the parts of you that learned to protect you in hard times. Together, they let us work through trauma at a pace that feels safe — without having to retell your story over and over. Many of the students I work with are carrying more than a heavy course load: childhood wounds, anxiety that won't switch off, depression, ADHD, or the pressure of holding it all together far from home. Therapy with me is a place where all of that can be looked at without judgment. I believe we can let go of our past and accept ourselves as we are — and that self-acceptance is the first step toward change. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor, certified in EMDR (EMDRIA) and trained in IFS (IFS Institute) and DBT, with a master's in Counseling Psychology from Temple University and eight years of practice. Sessions are $185 with sliding-scale spots available, and I provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. I offer a free 20-minute consultation — reach out and let's see if we're a good fit.
I believe that everyone deserves the chance to flourish in life. Life throws us curveballs, often causing us to lose sight of who we are and what we need to feel worthy and successful. My main priority with clients is to create a safe space, free from judgment and criticism. I utilize a multitude of counseling theories in my work, but always practice from a client-centered foundation, in which I work to empower my clients to take an active role in their treatment. I believe there is value in collaboration, and I want to work together to navigate through the challenges that come up. Growing up as a competitive athlete, I experienced firsthand the impact that academic and athletic pressures can have on the body and mind. I played Division I soccer at the collegiate level, and therefore, have a speciality of working with athletes. I use my personal experiences with mental health to connect authentically with clients.
*Due to the current Covid-19 crises, my practice is set up to see patients thru video conference calling which is HIPPA compliant for privacy. I believe that individual therapy is the bedrock of mental health change especially for personal issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship self esteem and emotional problems of living. Counseling with your therapist needs to be collaborative where clients sort out thoughts and feelings in order to get a better understanding of who they are. Counseling is completely different from person to person. One client may want more advice or suggestions. Another might want mostly to vent and to be heard. Still others may need to be challenged or confronted. In general, though, most therapists believe that counseling helps us understand thoughts and feelings about ourselves that we have not previously fully recognized. Sigmund Freud referred to this process as making that which is unconscious conscious. I trust that clients know deep down what should be talked about in therapy and that they mostly need help knowing how to access these thoughts and feelings in order to realize what it is they want and need from others and their lives. My approach is eclectic or integrative, but I use many behavioral and cognitive-behavioral approaches in my work. I am particularly interested in evidenced-based and best practices approaches to treatment and so I continually challenge myself to learn newly refined techniques and approaches and provide each patient with the best of my learning over 30 years of practice in multiple settings. I am humanistic and client centered as well and and have found that it often helps patients to know that their therapist is a regular, genuine and authentic individual who is dedicated to my profession and feels that much can be learned from the relationship of therapy. Many clients come to a therapist’s office because they are struggling in their relationships. Paying attention to how your relationship develops in the office can help you understand how really important social interactions in your life outside of the therapeutic relationship actually work.

At Intersection Therapy, we hope to meet your needs and help you find effective ways to process your stress! College can be rewarding, but it can also feel overwhelming. Whether you're adjusting to campus life, feeling stressed or burned out, struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, eating concerns, dissociation, low self-worth, or simply feeling stuck, you don't have to navigate it alone. At Sacred Forest Counseling, I strive to provide an unconditionally accepting space where you can show up exactly as you are. My approach is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and collaboration. Together, we'll explore the challenges you're facing, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and work toward meaningful, lasting change at a pace that feels right for you. I also offer a unique nature-informed approach to counseling for students who find healing and clarity through connecting with nature. From my experience and current research from the EcoPsychology field, it can be said that healing often happens when we slow down, reconnect with ourselves, and draw wisdom from the natural world. Whether we meet outdoors or virtually, therapy is always tailored to your individual needs and goals. I have experience working with undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. students and understand the unique pressures that can come with balancing academics, relationships, work, and personal well-being. If you're wondering whether we'd be a good fit, I'd love to connect. Reach out today to see if Sacred Forest Counseling is the right place to support your journey.

Sometimes life feels big and fast, and really painful. You might be going through a major transition, dealing with a loss, or coping with intense stress. Whatever the cause, you’re left with the sense that things just aren’t right. Overwhelming as things feel, inside of you, there’s also wisdom and a great capacity to understand and heal what hurts, so that you feel more peace internally and experience more enjoyment as you navigate challenges, losses, stress–whatever life puts in your path. Together, our work will be to find and nourish the wisdom and ability that's already within you. I meet you with openness to all the parts of you, whether they’re critical or criticized, anxious or calm, heavy with sadness or energetic and driven. We work to access and open up the gifts these parts hold and to connect with the core you that’s so full of wisdom and vigor. Life slows down. Healing begins. And a brighter, clearer path opens up before you.
