Therapists for college students near New York University
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with years of experience in various settings, including university counseling centers (Baruch, NYU, Fordham), a psychiatric in-patient unit, a community outpatient clinic, and a rehabilitation hospital. I have an extensive experience working with young adults and adults coping with a wide range of mental disorders and life stressors (e.g., depression; anxiety; trauma; adjustment issues; acculturation issues; interpersonal difficulties; racial trauma). I utilize an integrative approach that synthesizes elements from various therapy models (e.g., psychodynamic, CBT, DBT). Through this approach, I will support you in gaining new in sights and meanings, building new skills, recognizing your incredible resilience, and breaking free from unhelpful patterns that may be holding you back. In our therapeutic journey together, my primary aim is to establish a profound sense of connection with you. Using this therapeutic alliance, I will gently yet firmly encourage you to confront your challenges, facilitating new experiences and understanding.
Do you feel exhausted from trying to hold everything together? Maybe you have always been the responsible one or the person others rely on. You pushed through stress, anxiety, and family challenges because you felt like you had to. At first it seemed manageable, but now the pressure feels heavier and harder to carry. On the outside you appear confident and put together. Inside you might feel overwhelmed, burnt out, or worried that you cannot keep this up much longer. Wanting a break does not mean you are failing. It means you are human. I’m Sara, and I help students who are tired of perfectionism, constant pressure, and the weight of expectations. I work with people who want healthier relationships, better communication, and support as they process past experiences that still affect them today. My background includes ACT, CBT, TF-CBT, Brainspotting, and group therapy training, which allows me to tailor our work to what you need. In our sessions, you can expect a warm, honest, and real environment where you can finally let your guard down. I show up as myself so you can feel comfortable showing up as yourself too. You deserve a space where you can put down the pressure you have been carrying and focus on feeling grounded, supported, and hopeful. I am here to help you get there.
Hi, I am Ebony Booker, a Social Work graduate from Fordham University and Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Georgia. More specifically I am someone who helps to restore balance when life’s most important priorities can get you off track. Being able to put the pieces together when things fall apart has been my niche in working with others over the past two decades. I understand what it is like to have the daily demands of work, family, relationships, school, extracurricular activities all vying for the same amount of attention in one day. It can seem like they are stacking up like a Jenga puzzle. During this time, when demands are high and your energy is low it may feel like things are off balance. From my many years in the field working with individuals I know that you can get back to a sense of oneness and focus. If you are ready to do the work, you will be surprised and encouraged at how much you are capable of. By implementing the necessary tools to manage day to day stressors. The growth you see will be something you did not know existed. I know that each one of us can make the change in our lives. If you are ready to understand what is holding you back and to carve a path out to begin your journey, then give me a call at 404-707-5743 or drop me an email at essentialwellnessandconsulting@gmail.com.

Hi, I’m Summer, a psychotherapist at Wove Therapy! I’m passionate about supporting people through life’s challenges and helping them discover their strengths along the way. I’ve had the honor of working with a wide range of clients, each with their own unique experiences, across various settings. I have many years experience helping people with their emotional problems. I work with individuals of all ages from adolescence to old age. My approach is listening-focused. No two persons who have come to see me have had the same issues and struggles to contend with. So what is needed is close, attentive listening so I can know how you can most benefit from my help. Many patients prefer to focus on the here and now problems they feel most immediately. But others want to explore their root causes in earlier relations and problems. I try to tailor my practice to work at either or both these levels of intensity.
Our drive as therapists has always been to help others, and to help guide clients into finding their inner peace at a time when so many - and understandably so - have felt an intense amount of anxiety, sadness, and just an overall sense of emotional turmoil. We work through a lot of things with our clients: how to get unstuck, establishing boundaries, feeling more confident, and finding strategies to work through the anxiety and depression that plagues so many, to name a few. Most importantly however, we hope to be able to help you reclaim your own space in a world that demands you to be quiet. To be able to really live. Unapologetically. Bravely.
My clients describe me as warm, empathetic, intuitive and easy to talk to. I believe therapy is a unique experience and I work with you to tailor the treatment to your individual needs. I utilize techniques ranging from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), reiki and talk therapy. Prior to becoming a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), I worked in NYC public schools as a School Counselor for about 10 years. I have extensive knowledge in dealing with all types of school issues and working with families. I specialized in college transition and managing college as a first-generation college student. I look forward to meeting you!

As a team, we are especially attuned to the experiences of students from multicultural, international, and Asian or Asian American backgrounds.
