If you've found your way here, something in you is already reaching toward healing. That takes courage. And I don't take that lightly. Maybe you're the one everyone else leans on. The one who keeps it together at work, at home, in every room that needs you while quietly wondering when someone is going to show up for you. Maybe you've been carrying the weight of trauma, navigating anxiety or depression, or simply running on empty for so long that you can't quite remember what full felt like. You don't have to keep doing it alone. I'm Alexandria "Alex" Cooke, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and I created this space specifically for high achieving women, women of color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, caregivers, and teens 16+ who are ready to stop surviving and start living. I know this world firsthand and I built this practice because I believe the people who spend their lives holding space for others deserve a space of their own. Here, you are not too much. You are not broken. You are not behind. You are a whole person who has been through real things and healing is not only possible for you, it is something you are already moving toward just by being here. No judgment. No pressure. No timeline that isn't yours. You belong here. Let's begin.

I’ve found that the most effective counseling takes a team approach: I am knowledgeable about mental health treatment, but you are the expert on you. We’ll explore your concern together and find a solution you are comfortable with. I do virtual sessions only. Check out more on my website! https://www.michaelburroughsllc.com/

I specialize in meeting with people experiencing anxiety, attention difficulty, impulsive/risk-taking behaviors, depression, and interpersonal conflict. My first priority is in collaborating with my clients to create spaces where change feels possible. I am especially attentive to the ideas of reducing stigma surrounding mental health care, trust associated with strict confidentiality, and increasing motivation using strengths- and evidence-based techniques. I bring an integrative approach to therapy, combining aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and DBT (including Mindfulness) to find the best way forward for each client. I have experiences working with clients of all ages, across different clinical settings. I spent much of the past decade living and working overseas, managing an Eco-Lodge in northern Malawi, teaching English at a hagwon in South Korea, and working remotely as a therapist from Brazil. I enjoy playing basketball, reading (mostly sci-fi!), rock climbing, and managing far too many podcast subscriptions.

If you feel stuck emotionally, mentally, or in your relationships, you’re not alone. Life transitions, anxiety, depression, past trauma, or daily stress can leave you overwhelmed and unsure how to move forward. My goal is to create a safe, affirming space where you can unpack challenges, gain clarity, and build coping skills that help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected to yourself. I use a person-centered, strengths-based approach, blending CBT, mindfulness, and solution-focused techniques. In sessions, we’ll explore what’s working for you, challenge unhelpful patterns, and create practical strategies to manage emotions, set realistic goals, and achieve lasting change. Taking the first step can feel hard, but you don’t have to do it alone. If you’re ready to explore healing and growth, I invite you to book a session through my online calendar today. Together, we can work toward clarity, relief, and a stronger sense of self-worth.

I’m April-Autumn—founder of "establisHER+empowerHIM=embraceUS Counseling & Consulting"—and I help students like YOU figure life out while holding space for your growth, your healing, and your identity. Whether you’re managing relationship drama, figuring out who you are, recovering from life’s hard hits, or just trying to breathe between classes—I’ve got you. This isn’t your traditional therapy vibe. It’s a *you-can-bring-your-whole-self* kind of space. Whether you’re navigating emotional overload, gender expectations, culture clashes, heartbreak, or pressure to have your future figured out—I’m here for all of it. 💁🏽‍♀️ For Women & Femmes: We’ll work on **identity, purpose, self-worth, and pleasure**—yes, that too. Together we’ll explore how to get unstuck, break generational habits, reclaim your voice, and build a solid foundation of self-love that doesn't rely on outside approval. On the outside things look great, but on the inside you are struggling. Work stress is becoming overwhelming, you feel anxious and depressed, and your relationships are suffering. What used to work is no longer working for you. I am here to help you learn new, more effective ways for life to become more manageable. Together we can create and work on goals, which can include improved work performance, more meaningful relationships, better communication, and stress management. We can address addictions which may be hindering performance. Whatever life stress or transition you may be experiencing, I am here to help. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, creative, and personalized. I am a nonjudgmental therapist with a specialty in helping young professionals, high achievers, and entrepreneurs who are feeling "stuck". I coach focusing on strengths and highly value the therapeutic relationship. I want therapy to be a safe space for everyone. My style is practical, authentic, and kind. I use humor to form meaningful connections. It can be difficult reaching out for help. I try to make the experience as comfortable as possible. Call me to talk about how I can help you move forward!

Life can be relentless and present challenges that feel overwhelming. It takes strength to ask for help and courage to become vulnerable with someone new. I recognize this and will work at your pace to form a trusting relationship with you where you can feel safe, validated, and respected. I have experience working with teens and adults who find themselves worrying about the future or things they cannot control. I have worked with people who are processing past hurtful and stressful life events so they can find a sense of strength and security in the present. I enjoy helping people see their worth so their self-talk transforms. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to help clients explore the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while learning skills to better navigate their daily life. I also incorporate mindfulness exercises to build a stronger mind-body connection and stay grounded in the present moment. You are worthy of having an unbiased space where you feel safe to process your experiences.

My work is grounded in the belief that no two people, and no two relationships, are alike in their stories and needs. As a result, therapy with me is highly personalized, and my priority will always be to understand you and/or your relationship within the context of your unique life experiences, beliefs, and goals. I approach therapy as a collaborative, human process and offer a nonjudgmental space for you to be present with yourself, rather than perform. In my experience, this freedom to be you paves the way for the curiosity, insight, and healing needed for real transformation. Though I see clients of all ages and stages, I specialize in working with young adults and couples to build or strengthen their relationships with themselves and others. Anxiety, depression, challenging life transitions, low self-esteem, conflict with friends or family, and issues related to sexuality and intimacy are just a few of the concerns that we can explore and work through together. Using a whole-person, integrative approach, I hope to help you process what’s happening now, while laying the foundation for a more aligned and connected future. If you are looking for a therapist with big-sister energy, you found me! My style is both deeply compassionate and direct, often with a side of dark humor and always underlined by a commitment to ongoing learning. I know I’ve done my job well when you feel both truly understood and gently challenged toward lasting change. If you are considering therapy, I welcome the opportunity to learn more about your story and how I can help you move toward the life and relationships you want.
