Therapists for college students near 02138
Hello and welcome! I am a clinical psychologist, and outside of my private practice, I am also on faculty at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. I specialize in evidence-based treatments for OCD, anxiety, and related disorders. Anxiety and fear can limit our lives in a number of ways, leading us to withdraw from people and activities we care about. I use cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), the gold standard treatment for anxiety, OCD, and related disorders, to help you develop the skills necessary to cope with your symptoms and build a life worth living. I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in CBT and exposure therapy for OCD and anxiety disorders (e.g., agoraphobia, panic, phobias, generalized anxiety). I also treat hair-pulling, skin-picking, depression, and perfectionism, and provide skills to help regulate difficult emotions. Please don't hesitate to reach out for a consultation!
Hi there! My name is Julie (she/her), and I am a therapist with a clinical social work background. I work with folks who have a variety of concerns. Recently, I've had several college students who want to work through depression or anxiety while they figure out various paths they are struggling with. Together, we discuss various tools to help manage stressors and feelings.
If you’re here, you may be looking for a space to grow, heal, or better understand yourself. Something might feel like it’s getting in the way of becoming the version of yourself you want to be - whether that’s related to school, work, relationships, unhelpful patterns, anxiety, depression, or something else entirely. Whatever brought you here, and no matter how many times you’ve tried before, we can work together to clarify your goals and move forward in a meaningful way. My name is Madison, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and advanced certification in trauma-informed care. I look forward to getting to know you and supporting you on your journey. I have experience working with adolescents, young adults, and adults, particularly in areas such as trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression. My approach is strength-based, collaborative, and goal-oriented. I believe that you already have the capacity for growth and change, and my role is to support and guide you in accessing and utilizing your strengths. I strive to create a comfortable, supportive, and empowering space where you can be your true self. I have experience with a variety of therapeutic techniques, ranging from motivational interviewing and CBT to mindfulness to strength-based and solution-focused therapy. We can work together to determine what approach makes the most sense for your needs and goals.
Managing OCD, anxiety, and/or depression on top of the demands of work, school, social responsibilities, family responsibilities, or even leisure time is exhausting. It takes so much time and energy to deal with anxiety and takes you away from the things you care about. You deserve to feel better and do more than just try to get through your day. I strive to create a safe and comfortable environment and work collaboratively with you in an empathic manner using evidence-based treatment, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (or exposure and response prevention for OCD). Finding a therapist who fits what you are looking for can be a challenging experience. I admire your bravery in taking this first step. If you have questions about my practice, background, or approach we can set up a call to discuss if it would be a good fit.
I am offering telehealth videoconferencing through the HIPAA compliant platform doxy.me

I am a Harvard-trained, Harvard-affiliated, board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. I strongly believe that the best psychiatric care is centered on the whole person, not just on a diagnosis or a specific medication. I provide weekly therapy and work with patients to determine if medications can be of help. I do not believe that everyone needs a medication, but they can be useful in treating particular psychiatric symptoms; I will work with you in order to find the best treatment modality that meets your goals and needs. My training in psychotherapy includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Exposure/Response Prevention (Ex/RP) and Prolonged Exposure (PE). I provide psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. In order to offer comprehensive treatment, I do not accept insurance in my private practice. I am currently conducting sessions via telemedicine only. Please feel free to send me an email to set up a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation so I can answer any questions and see if I can be of help.

I previously worked in college counseling (at Wellesley College) and residential life (at Harvard College), so I'm well-attuned to the specific experiences and challenges of college student life! As a relational psychodynamic therapist, I believe that our experiences are shaped by our relationships with ourselves, other people, and the world at large. My work is informed by feminist, queer, disability, and critical race theory. I also integrate narrative therapy, which allows us to reimagine the stories we tell about ourselves and our lives. I am deeply attentive to how identity and marginalization can impact one's experiences and movement through the world. In my work, I strive for a trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive, and socially just practice. I meet clients with curiosity, warmth, and nuance to explore their experiences, relationships, and challenges. Great to meet you! My philosophy is simple: listen first, treat second. I take time to understand your story, explain how diagnoses and medications work, and ensure every decision is made together. You’ll never feel rushed or dismissed. I value transparency, education, and collaboration in every session. My approach to treatment: What you can expect from our first session Our first session is about getting to know you. Adjusting to new cultures as an immigrant, starting a new career as the only queer person in your company, learning how to navigate spaces of affluence as a new university student from a working-class background, and other major life adjustments can be some of our most challenging life experiences, especially when our ability to cope and adjust is limited by difficult traumatic memories and the resulting constant feeling of being overwhelmed. A therapeutic approach that centers your cultural and material realities can help you overcome and build resilience. I use an eclectic therapeutic approach incorporating various evidence based modalities in client centered, and culturally responsive way to facilitate the processing of traumatic memories, develop effective coping strategies to confront activating reminders of trauma, and ultimately support you as you rebuild relationships and pursue new opportunities. To help someone heal from trauma is a radical act, and I am always honored to be trusted by survivors to do this work. I believe that we are all deeply connected and that my healing and liberation is tied up with yours. I am excited to join you on your journey of growth and recovery. Please know that you are not a burden, and I am here to support you. Please reach out for a free initial consultation. We can discuss your needs. If it seems like we are not aligned due to finances or other reasons, I can help direct you to more appropriate resources. I was once in your shoes, and want to be the support I could have used back then.
